Business is about relationships, as any business owner will tell you. And nowhere is that more true than in the construction industry.
But it’s also about know-how. And very few corporations will hire a buddy to build something if that friend can’t deliver.
That’s why 12 local business owners were so pleased to be part of Skanska USA’s Health Care Building Blocks earlier this year.
Health Care Building Blocks is aimed at small contractors who want to work in an active hospital setting, where Skanska does quite a bit of work itself. The program has been launched in four cities so far – Detroit, Cleveland, Nashville and, most recently, Cincinnati. Roughly 75 companies have graduated from the program in all, including the 12 recent Cincinnati graduates.
“It was great training,” said Emmett Drane, President of DFS -Diversified Facility Solutions, which provides construction management and general construction services. “Skanska shared with participants method, ways and mean of the how they approach health care construction.”
